we had...

...a fantastic weekend! i love tipi camp - it brings us the most wonderful people i could ever imagine!
the weather was really perfect and we had great campfires and we laughed and had interesting conversations and jay played his guitar and we sang a littlle and WOW what a good time.
thank you all who came and camped. thank you!

What super weather we are having! We had quite a cold shock for a couple days and then - autumn. Just beautiful. The combination of a plentiful rain followed by a short cold snap will have our trees ablaize with color this fall. I noticed the tips of the maple branches by our camp are starting to show their beautiful fall costume.
And speaking of costume... Have you heard about "the Legend of Tipi Hollow" coming to a tipi camp near you?
Weather permitting, some of the guys will be rockin' the field with  our favorites performed by "The Original Chick'n Pick'n Band"! Music starts at 1 PM with free hot dogs and great field dancing music. All registered tipi camp guests have a free pass to this event. After dark get on your costume - all camp guests in costume will get pizza and candy! Sit around the campfire at night in your costume, it's sure to be wierd!

Fall is in the air!

After a very hot summer we are entering one of my favorite times of year - the leaves have just a hint of color change and the mornings are cool and crisp. IT IS GREAT RIDING WEATHER.
Bought a new leather at the Goodwill for $20. It fits like a second skin. My bike tends to run hot and i need to get it checked out before too much time goes by.
We had a great picnic last week at one of the many parks along the French Broad River. Except for the guy wanting to shoot snakes in the river with a 9mm, it was really cool. He was nice and everything just made me a little nervous waving his pistol around.... never did shoot anything. He didn't catch any fish either, that i saw...

it's been a while...

Hi, I'm back. It's been a busy time here at tipi camp getting ready for the big Labor Day Weekend!

hooray!

The Weather Channel says this weekend we will have a "cooler front" move through and temps during the day will be back to their normal lovely 82 degrees or so!!! wahoo!
The nights still cool off beautifully and the campfires have been great but these 90 degree blistering hot sun days are for the birds (flamingos, to be exact)
We went up on the Parkway yesterday and it was glorious - it's not getting as hot up there as here in the Asheville valley has been. All our camp sites have shade though, til 11 or so, so if sleeping in is your thing, you won't wake up roasting in your beds!
Come on out and camp this weekend! It should be absolutely lovely. :)

we have a roof!

in spite of the horridly hot weather jay has finished the shingles and the lodge is complete - this weekend will be cooler and i will go and paint the exterior. then i will post some pics to the website and FB. perhaps some A/C is in order....

i think i'm getting it!

today at camp jay and sam are putting shingles on the roof of our new lodge. when the weather cools down, and i just know it will, the lodge will be a nice place to gather if it's chilly or wet.
i'm thinking maybe next year we will make a small kitchen set up in there using the kitchen from Lucille. i don't know, we'll see if there's much call for it - asheville has such great restaurants, who wants to cook when on vacation? we know lots of good "local" places to eat and then there's also delivery food...
